This is a brief description of the service, please request more information by using the form below.

HIV/Aids primary prevention programmes are run in Johannesburg, South Africa, on the streets of the slums, where prostitution and drugs mix.

One prostitute serves about  one thousand sex buyers per year.  If we can help to educate, motivate and equip these girls to limit the spread of the HIV it can make a major impact on society in general.

Preventing a young prostitute from contracting the virus will save many thousands of lives.  The men who buy young prostitutes are, typically, married and have families, and are in middle to upper class management positions.

A drug addicted prostitute who learns that she is HIV+ may possibly decide to go without condoms and/or deliver types of services that she previously regarded as HIV risky.  One such prostitute can infect up to 400+ men per year--who probably do not use condoms with their wives and will most probably infect them as well.  Thus, one HIV+ prostitute can effectively remove 800+ middle class tax paying, educated, trained, producers and employers every year.

It is interesting for us to note how a nation can spend millions as it will frantically mobilise its police force to hunt down a serial killer responsible for, say, 9 or 15 victims.  Why not regard the HIV+ whoremonger and destitute prostitute as a social crises in need of similar urgent attention -- when we know that each one of them can be responsible for thousands of deaths every year?

In the face of the statistics we feel a bit small to really make a very big difference in this.  We are limited by human resources and money for logistics but nevertheless the programme serves more than 3 000 prostitutes and whoremongers every month-- with condoms, literature and educational talks.

Please, we need help in this regard--its war out there...
